We are actively using BODS Disruptions in Cornwall and it is generally working well for us. We are populating the system primarily with a view to pull the data into our own website and have that information replicated on bustimes.org and other downstream systems.
It would be good to see disruptions presented on Traveline.info
As a very regular user of Bustimes, I have to say it’s great to see the disruptions that get put up and I’ve love to see more LAs getting onboard.
One of the big issues I find in some areas is that the website tech suppliers, won’t get onboard with ingesting Disruption data. I spoke to Passenger at Euro Bus Expo and they said pretty much that they have no intention of taking disruption data any time soon.
This means in many areas where their major operator is using a Passenger site, it’s just endless duplicate entry for the operators or LA/Operator (depending on who is inputting data into the BODS disruption tool).
At a refresher meeting last year KPMG said a number of LAs were on the test site but weren’t moving over to the live system. I wonder what is stopping LAs from switching over? The users of the disruption data tool doesn’t seem to have changed for a while now.
Traveline will be integrating the BODS disruptions feed into its new website when it’s launched later this year; the contract has been awarded to Passenger.
The hope is that with the data in live service on a GB wide journey planner, more LAs might be encouraged to use the tool
