We understand that the procurement for a new 3 year contract for BODS is in its final stages, with a preferred supplier expected to be announced in the next few weeks and the BODS roadmap or similar being available in August 2025 (current timescales).
I hope whoever wins improves the support for users. Listens to the feedback given and resolves issues which are raised.
Anyone heard anything about this?
We understand that we can expect confirmation from the DfT of the contract award for BODS towards the end of 2025/early 2026.
There will two BODS contracts:
- Technical (the one referred to above)
- BODS Connect (customer support, stakeholder engagement) - this contract is still in procurement
News via BODS email this morning (this doesn’t include the BODS Connect contract which will cover user support and engagement, we understand from DfT that this is due to be readvertised in the coming weeks)…
“Hello
Following a competitive procurement process, as per the award notice on the government’s contracts finder portal, we can confirm that a new supplier Kainos has been appointed to manage and run the Bus Open Data Service. They will work closely with the current service provider KPMG to transfer the service over coming weeks.
We do not expect there to be an impact on end users or stakeholders at this stage. The service will continue to operate as normal throughout the transition period and beyond. No action is required by end users of the service as a result of this change.
Kind regards,
The Bus Open Data Service team”
Kainos will be supported by ARUP as a sub-contractor
